In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ADAMS, Floyd Hugh (Bert) - A WW II veteran of the Battle of the Atlantic, serving aboard HMCS Pictou and HMCS Fergus, Dad fell ill on Remembrance Day and passed away suddenly three days later at Royal Columbian Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Walter and Margaret, wife Helen, brother Len and sister Helen. He is survived and lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Irene, beloved friend Joan, son David, daughters Shelley and Debbie (Dennis), grandchildren Crystal (Shawn) and Paul (Sara), great-grandsons Mason and Braden and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Calgary, Alberta, but moved to Vancouver in January 1918 with his parents and, except for his wartime service, spent most of the rest of his life in Vancouver and the metro area. After the war, he settled down to the challenge of raising a family, working for many years as a truck driver for Johnston Terminals and Home Oil, before following his dream in the 1970s of becoming his own boss as the owner of the Ogopogo Motel in Penticton, BC. Dad was an avid fisherman and loved camping. Retirement in the early 1980s also allowed him to pursue his love of travel in Mexico with Mom, often with friends Percy and Lorraine Tremblay from a base in Yuma, Arizona where Dad and Mom maintained a winter residence for 16 years. Later, he fell under the spell of the Hawaiian Islands and was a regular visitor to the Big Island for several years. His was a life well lived. We miss him dearly. A Celebration of Dad's Life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the B.C. Cancer Agency or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
