WAGNER, Evelyn Bernice - passed away on Saturday May 10, 2014 at St. Michael's Hospice in Burnaby.
She was born in Winnipeg, the youngest child of Florence and Montague Wagner. Evelyn was a proud WWII veteran, serving with the WRCNS at Naval Headquarters in Ottawa and later in Halifax and Newfoundland. After discharge in 1946, Evelyn was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs and later by the Federal Transport Commission in Winnipeg and Vancouver, until her retirement in 1978. Evelyn was predeceased by her brother Gordon Wagner who was killed in 1942, at El Alamein; and by her sister Dorothy Bennett in 2009. She will be fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Norman Bennett, her 3 nieces and nephew, her four great-nieces and -nephew and her 3 'great-greats'. She will be missed by her many friends in Winnipeg, Burnaby and Coquitlam. Evelyn requested that there be no service, and flowers are gratefully declined. Friends may make a donation to the charity of their choice in her memory. (The Burnaby Now 13 May 2014)
