In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
KRZYSTOFCZYK, Michael - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Krzystofczyk, aged 84 years, on March 17, 2025 at Bethammi Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born on April 2, 1940, in Warsaw Poland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1952. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Navy and embarked on a two-year journey around the world. In 1962, Mike met the love of his life, Ganya Wyszomirski, and they married on May 15, 1965. Mike worked diligently for Abitibi Mission Mill for 42 years as a clamp trucker before retiring at the age of 63. Upon retirement, he embraced the opportunity to travel and spent many happy times visiting Duluth, where he showed endless patience, waiting in the car while the ladies went shopping. He also made countless trips to tropical destinations like Mexico, Cuba and Dominican Republic with his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
A natural joker, Mike was known for his infectious smile and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. Whether he was lending a helping hand to those in need or brightening the day of those around him, Mike had a heart of gold. During his stay at Bethammi, he formed strong bonds with the PSWs and nurses, always bringing joy to those who cared for him.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years Ganya (Jenny), daughter Kathleen Eaton (Mike), sons Teddy Krzystofczyk (Linda), Michael Krzystofczyk (Lori), as well as his grandchildren Kimberly, Ryan and Isabella. He is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Stanley, sisters Emily and Josephine.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the PSWs and Nurses on the 3rd floor at Bethammi for their exceptional care and compassion over the past few years.
As per Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to your local Humane Society would be greatly appreciated, dad loved all of his grand pups.
Mike will be greatly missed but never forgotten. (The Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal 22 Mar 2025)
