FINNAMORE, Russell Arnold - On March 6, 2025, the world lost a kind and generous man, Russell Arnold Finnamore, of Quispamsis, NB. He was the beloved husband of Bertha "Bert" (DeMerchant), proud father to Michael (Alice) and Eric, grandfather to Lorna (Peter) and Michael, and great-grandfather to Elisabeth and Anna.
Born September 23, 1942, in Currie Siding, NB, to the late Alton and Rose (Foster) Finnamore, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald and sister, Delores. He is survived by his siblings, Gerald (Carolyn), Milton (Barb), Wilfred (Theresa), Eugene (Anita), Verdell, Gregory (Patria), Dawn (the late Jim), Janice (Darryl), and sister-in-law Edith, as well as by a large extended family of sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and a great number of dear, dear friends.
Russell was a man of quiet faith, willing to lend a hand to anyone. He spent his earlier working life in the Canadian Navy, serving out of Halifax, NS for 23 years. On his retirement from the Navy, he moved to Quispamsis , NB, to work at Saint John Ship Building during the Frigate Program, where even after his second retirement, he was called for advice for many years. In his later years, he enjoyed his association with the KV Old Boys. The family would like to thank the medical team of Saint John Regional hospital for their care and compassion during Russell's final months.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119) with visiting on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. A Celebration of Russell's life will be held at the same location on Thursday, March 13 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tom Graham officiating. Interment will take place at a later date, on his beloved Tobique River. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly welcomes your donations in memory of Russell to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the KV Old Boys, the Quispamsis United Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
