In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BUSHIE, Robert Wayne - After a 3 year battle with Mesothelioma, Robert Wayne Bushie, (Bob) died peacefully with family by his side at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on December 30, 2019. He was in his 76th year.
Bob was a much-loved father, husband and grandfather. Bob was a proud military member. He leaves behind his wife Marcia, his sons Jeff and Lance (Stacy) his daughter Jennifer (Ryan) and his brother Glen (Karen) along with his granddaughters Araceli and Sienna.
Bob was a proud Canadian military member. He served our country from 1960 to 1992. During that time, he was a Sergeant in the Navy on 4 ships, worked for the Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Services, and was a bomb disposal technician (EOD). He looked back on his time with the military fondly, always willing to tell his stories about life on the ships.
Bob was a sailor for life, sailing the waves of lake Nipissing on his sailboat. If he wasn’t sailing, he was camping, fly fishing or canoeing in the cedar strip canoe he designed and built. Bob loved the outdoors, and planned to spend the rest of his retirement, cruising Canada in his camping trailer with his wife.
There will be a celebration of life ceremony for Bob at Hillside Funeral Services on Saturday January 4th, with visitation at 1pm followed by the service at 2pm.
Donations in Bob’s honour can be made to woundedwarriors.ca (The BayToday 02 Jan 2020)
