Died: 11 Apr 2023, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada

 

WILTON, George Robert Sterling - passed away at NRGH in Nanaimo, B.C., on April 11, 2023.

 

George was born July 28, 1931, in Calgary, Alberta, but spent most of his growing-up years in Morris and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

 

Married 70 years to Babs (Sutherland). He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1950 and married Babs in 1952 in Gander, Newfoundland, which was their first posting as a married couple.

 

George retired as a Chief Petty Officer, 1st Class, in Nanaimo. He was a member of the Nanaimo Golf and Country Club, the Nanaimo Curling Club, the CPO Association of Victoria, and Branch 256 in the Royal Canadian Legion Nanaimo. Because of the strike interment will be delayed, but his final resting place will be God's Little Acre in Esquimalt.

 

Survived by his wife Babs, his son Richard of Edmonton, his daughter Kelly of Chemainus, and two granddaughters Emma and her partner Andrew of Shawnigan Lake, and Sara and her husband Alex Walker and their baby son "Wilder" of Chemainus.
