In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
DAVIGNON, Guy - It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of Mr. Guy Davignon, on February 6th, 2025, at the CHUS-Fleurimont Hospital in Sherbrooke, at the age of 87, residing in Ayer's Cliff. He was the beloved husband of Verna Davignon (née Hicks) for 42 years. Son of the late Dr. Aldei Davignon and the late Emilia Ste-Marie.
Guy is survived by his children Paul (Amy Rothwell) and Daniel (Monica Wilson), his grandchildren William and Emilie, his sister Laurette, and his dear friend Ginette. He was the brother of the late Claude.
Guy loved traveling, sailing on the water and telling stories. After a few years in the Royal Canadian Navy, he worked 34 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in five provinces where he rose through the ranks to the rank of Superintendent. One of his last positions before retirement was to direct the Protection Services Department for Canadian and foreign dignitaries such as Prime Ministers, the Governor General, as well as foreign dignitaries visiting Canada (President Reagan, the Pope).
However, Guy's true passion was his flower garden in which he loved experimenting to grow countless species of flowers and plants.
A special thank you to Ginette Provost for her compassionate presence with Guy for twenty years and especially during these last difficult months.
The family welcomes you at the Cass Funeral Home, 900 Clough Street in Ayer's Cliff, Saturday, February 22, 2025, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. A light snack will follow at St-Barthélemy Church.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Maison Aube-Lumière, 3071 12e Ave N., Sherbrooke, J1H 5H3, would be appreciated by the family. (The Sheerbrooke Record 12 Feb 2025)
