Son of Harry Biddle and Margaret Revell, both of England.

 

Benjamin enlisted in the Royal Navy on 03 Aug 1909 as a Stoker 2nd Class.  He was rated a Stoker 1st Class on 03 Aug 1910 and had served in HMS DREADNOUGHT.  On 17 Dec 1912, while serving in HMS DREADNOUGHT, he deserted from the Royal Navy.  It appears he came to Canada and subsequently enlisted in the RNCVR - service # VR-785. On 04 Aug 1915 he surrendered himself to Royal Navy authorities under an amnesty, serving again in HMS DREADNOUGHT and then HMS VENERABLE.  The last entry in his file is Tr. M. O. P. 16 Jul 1917

 

He transferred to the Royal Engineers as a Sapper on 22 Aug 1917 service # 313150

 

After the war he returned to Canada.  Benjamin married Beatrice Victoria Blake on 24 Jun 1931 at Vancouver, British Columbia.  At the time of his marriage Benjamin was a truck driver.

 

Benjamin died of pneumonia, a consequence of chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

 

He is mentioned in "Honouring Our Own", Canadian Postal Service.
