McDONALD, Arthur Hatheway - Class of 1939 Commander Arthur H. McDonald died at the Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, Halifax, NS on May 28th, 2009. Following High School he was educated at Dartmouth Naval College, Ports- mouth, England. After a successful career as a Naval Officer both in war and in peace, notably commanding numerous warships and serving as Queen's Harbour Master for Halifax and in senior intelligence and security positions, he retired in 1968 A lifelong out- door enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, training Labrador retrievers, skiing, scuba diving, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing. A man of many talents, he learned from scratch computer programming in his 60s and bag piping in his 70s. (Saint John High School Alumni News 2010)
