ANDERSON , Arthur Clayton - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Arthur Clayton Anderson of Calgary. Clayton passed peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on October 28, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Born in Calgary to Jerrold and Agnes Anderson on February 18, 1926, Clayton is survived by his brother Donald (Florence) and sisters Grace of Canmore and Gretta of Regina. Clayton also leaves behind stepchildren Katherine (Matt) and Wheeler (Nick). Clayton was predeceased by his wife of eleven years, Doreen, in July 2009. Clayton grew up in Calgary where he attended Western Canada High School. He served on North Atlantic Convoy Duty in the Royal Canadian Navy during W.W. II and later attended the University of Oklahoma receiving a degree in Petroleum Engineering. His working life was spent in the oil and gas industry, primarily in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Many thanks go to the caring and supportive staff of the Colonel Belcher Care Centre where Clayton had resided since May 2008. In lieu of flowers those that desire are encouraged to make a donation to the Foothills Country Hospice Society. A Celebration of Clayton's life will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Okotoks on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. (The Calgary Herald 31 Oct 2009)
