In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
JACKSON, Ann Janette (née STEWART) - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Janette Jackson (nee Stewart) on January 16, 2025.
Predeceased by her loving husband Derrick (Scotty) Jackson and survived by her loving sons, David, Stewart, Ian and granddaughter Beth. She will be dearly missed by her “kids”, Paul, Elizabeth, Janel, James, and John. Ann was predeceased by her brother Jack (Jock).
Ann was born November 11, 1940, in Millport, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in the late 1940s with her family. She lived in British Columbia where she became a member of the Women’s Royal Navel Service, a position that took her to Nova Scotia where she met her husband, a fellow Scotsman, Derrick. Married in 1963, the couple followed the Navy life back to British Columbia and finally to their forever home in Winnipeg.
Ann was an Honorary Life Member of the Navy League of Canada. She served in the Navy League on the Women’s Auxiliary. She was an avid crafter who enjoyed sharing her talent with others. Ann had a deep love of Scottish Terriers and West Highland Terriers, opening her home to many over her lifetime. Ann enjoyed travelling across Canada visiting friends and seeing the sights. Over her life, Ann had a deep passion for genealogy, researching her ancestry and discovering new family members and family history that she kept meticulous record of to share with others.
Ann will be dearly missed by all those she knew throughout her life. She loved and was loved.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Vista Park Lodge for their care of Ann during her time there.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial for friends and family will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children’s Wish Foundation, Manitoba Chapter or the Navy League of Canada Chapter of your choice. (The Winnipeg Free Press 25 Jan 2025)
