Born: 21 Apr 1921, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Died: 15 Jan 2006

McLEOD, Arthur Allenby - To our great sorrow, our father passed away on January 15, 2006 after a long, harrowing and ultimately heroic battle with Parkinson's Disease. To our relief, through faith, he found peace in the end. A native of Vancouver, he was pre-deceased by his 2-year-old daughter Marlene. He will be sorely missed by his loving and devoted wife of more than 65 years, Josephine, his sons, Brian and Russell, his daughters, Susan and Melanie, sons-in-law Donald Prociuk and Bryan Taylor, and daughter-in-law Cecilia Pasion Cabuso. His passing likewise brings profound sadness to his granddaughters, Catherine, Christina, Carlyanne, Allison, Stephanie and Katarina and grandson Donovan, to all of whom he was affectionately known as "Poppa". Born on April 21, 1921, he grew up fatherless having lost his own dad to premature illness at age two. This inspired him to a lifelong, tireless effort to be everything an ideal father can and should be to his children. And his success in this endeavor has inspired each of us in our own families to this day, and is his final legacy. He knew - and lived - the virtues of honesty and hard work; he made these things real beyond words. He also loved a good laugh, or a raucous Dixieland tune, nearly to the end of his days. He furthermore willingly rendered unto God what was God's, indeed made it a way of life. There was nobody with an electrical problem, or a leaky roof, that he wouldn't try and help, regardless of the hour. He was a bonny sailorman and we wish him a well deserved fair wind and Godspeed to his celestial destination. A memorial service will be held on June 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Heather Chapel at 777 West 68th Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to Daybreak Point Bible Camp Society P.O. Box 18085 Vancouver, BC V6M 4L3) or Union Gospel Mission would be appreciated. (The Vancouver Sun / The Province 29 Jun 2006)
