TOBIAS, Audrey Sylvia - It is with great sadness we announce Audrey died peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Castleview Wychwood Towers in Toronto. Recipient of the Agnes McPhail Award for her contributions to the community as a peace activist, she is best known for her successful protest of the census form in 2013. A WWII Veteran (WRCNS), a high school teacher (Central Tech), librarian and contributing founder of Toronto Public Library Workers Union, researcher, technical writer and published author, mentor and life time political activist, she spent her life embodying Christian ideals of love and mission. Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Sylvia Tobias, and her brother Peter Tobias; she is survived by her family: Lynn Bindhardt, Douglas Whiteman, Barbara McCallum, and sister-in-law Donna Tobias; her nephews David (Susan, Nicole, Jenna), Derek (Sheena, Alexander, Sara), Rick (Sanna), niece Cathy (Jamie, Patricia); younger cousins Sandie, Jay, Stuart, Barbara, Cory, Wendy, Jill, David, Christy and Andrew and their families. She had a huge impact on many of our lives and will be missed by family, friends and her church community. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 12 noon in St. Cuthberts Anglican Church, 1399 Bayview Avenue, Toronto.
