In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BASS, Garnet Harold Warren - age 90, of Porters Lake (formerly of Beaver Bank, and Cole Harbour), passed away on December 7, 2024 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, he was the son of the late Harry and Pearl Bass.
Dad spent 24 years in the Canadian Navy as a cook, retiring in 1978. Afterwards he worked at Northwood Manor as a cook and baker, retiring in 1999 after working there for 19 years.
Garnet is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Tony) LeBlanc, Porters Lake; and Julie Bass, Lower Sackville; sons, Rodney Bass, Bridgewater; and Jimmy (Nabilla) Bass, New Zealand; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Carl George; and sister-in-law Cynthia (Jim) Coughlin.
He is predeceased by wife Goldie Bass (nee George); parents Harry and Pearl Bass; son Gary Bass; brother Alvin Bass; sister Berna Bryan; in-laws, Purvis and Lillian George and several brothers and sisters in-law and a nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road, Cole Harbour, NS, B2V 1N2.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Wesley United Church, 32 Queen Street, Guysborough, NS, B0H 1N0, Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Burial to take place in Evergreen following service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Terry Fox Foundation.
