STRACHAN, Hugh Burns - 74, Lunenburg, died September 26, 1994, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital Veterans Unit, Lunenburg. Born in Cumberland, B.C., he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret Agnes (Miller) Strachan. In his earlier years he worked with Lunenburg Foundry & Engineering Ltd. and then was a representative for London Life Insurance Company for over 25 years. He served with Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War and was past vice-president of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Lunenburg. He was a member and served on the board of managers of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg; member of Navy League of Canada; 47-year member of Grace Chapter 8, Order of the Eastern Star and past district deputy grand master of Unity Lodge 4, Masonic Order, Lunenburg. He was a member and held the highest 33rd degree of the Scottish Rites and also the 8th degree. He was a member of Royal Order of Scotland and Philae Temple of the Shriners and had participated in projects for the Shriner's Crippled Children fund. He is survived by a sister, Christine Knickle, Langley, B.C.; two nieces, Margaret Wideman, Delhi, Ont.; Heather (Mrs. Christopher Corkum), Lunenburg. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Marion Emeneau; second wife, the former Marguerite Reynolds. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Laurence Mawhinney officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only. Donation may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Fishermen's Memorial Hospital or Shriners Crippled Children fund. Retiring Sea Cadet Officers Honored
William Oliver retiring Commanding Officer of the Lunenburg Sea Cadet Company was honored by the local committee yesterday morning in the office of the President, Senator J. J. Killey. retired due to a serious operation recently.
Mr. Hugh Stachan, who has been serving the Corps as a civilian Instructor has been recommended to replace Mr. Oliver and he will be appointed Acting Commanding Officer of the Neptune Sea Cadets.
