GILBERT ~ KEATING - Mulgrave, NS, Feb. 22 - St. Lawrence Catholic Church here was the scene of a pretty wedding Tuesday morning, Feb. 15, when Mary Cecilia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Keating, became the bride of Bertrand Gilbert, R.C.N.V.R., son of Mrs. Valida Gilbert, Quebec.
The ceremony was performed by Captain Rev. Vincent McDonald, P.P., in the presence of a large number of interested friends.
The wedding music was rendered by members of St. Lawrence choir, with Mrs. James Morrison at the organ.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was very attractive in a two-piece street-length dress of blue crepe with matching accessories and a corsage of pink carnations.
Mrs. Xavier Keating was matron of honor and the groom was attended by Leonard O'Neill.
Following the ceremony an informal reception was held at the officers' quarters, Navy Barracks, at which Rev. Vincent McDonald proposed the toast to the bride. Later the happy couple left by train for Quebec and Montreal.
They will reside in Mulgrave, where the groom is stationed. (The Halifax Herald, Wed., 23 Feb 1944 Page 7 // Researched by George Newbury)
