WOOD, Lorne Robert (Woody) - Sgt, retired, 93, passed away peacefully September 29, 2024 at Veterans Memorial Hospital V4E, his home for the last four years.
Born in Kaladar, ON on September 16, 1931 to Robert Wood and Aletha (Jerome) (Wood) Frost.
Woody was a proud member of the Canadian Navy for 27 years, with most of those years served at Shearwater. This is where he met and married his loving wife Sandra (Sigston) of 63 years.
Lorne had a love of reading and always had a book on the go. He was known to play a mean game of crib. For many years he enjoyed cycling, volunteering in the church kitchen and traveling. He was well known in the community for his warm smile and his kindness.
He is survived by his son Dennis (Nancy) & daughter Denise Corkum (Frank Young), his sister Ina Gould, granddaughters, Jennifer (Jordan), Catherine (Stu), Sara (Ben), Rhonda (John) & Hannah (Matt), step granddaughters Donna & Cindy, great grandchildren Lucas, Ryan, Lorraine, Paige, Zoey & Lillian and his bestie Curt.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff of V4E who loved Woody like family and provided him with exceptional care.
No visitation by request, cremation has taken place.
Funeral will be held Tuesday October 8th at 10 am at Port Wallis United Church. Burial to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
