SILVER, George Thomas (Tom) - On September 12, 1991, Dr. George Thomas (Tom) Silver, beloved husband of Norma (Cantwell), passed away at the Misericordia Hospital, at the age of 68. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Richard of Victoria, B.C., a daughter Susan, her husband Richard Klinger of Didsbury, and their two sons Eric and Christen. He is survived by his mother Abia of New Germany, and one sister Cecelia (Mrs. Ellis Colp), Eagle Head, Queens County. He was predeceased by his father Vulcan. He enlisted in the Navy and fought in World War II. He received his BscF. (Bachelor of Science in Forestry) at U.N.B., Fredericton, N.B.; his MscF. and PhD. at Syracuse University, New York. He worked at the Federal Forestry Labs in Fredericton, N.B., Victoria, B.C., Edmonton, Alta., and was the Director of the Northern Forest Research Centre, Edmonton, Alta., when he retired in 1980. Funeral service was held September 16,1991, at the Ebenezer United Church, Edmonton, with Rev. Gerry deVries officiating. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
