In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SEWARD, William Kilatrick - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Ken” Seward on September 20, 2024 after a courageous battle against Lewy body dementia.
Ken was born on May 28th, 1934, in Stoney Point, Ontario to the late Kenneth and Ina Seward (Kilpatrick). Predeceased by his brother Thomas Seward and the love of his life, his wife and soulmate of almost 60 years, Evelyn Seward (Gillis).
Left to mourn are his sister, Elsie Bonenberger (Dave); his children, Steven (Cheryl), Shawn (Cindy), and his precious and beloved grandchildren, Robin and Rebecca.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Matthew Watson for his kind and compassionate medical care for over 20 years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Shannex Lewis Hall and Glasgow Hall for their superb care and support of Ken for the past several years.
Dad left home at the young age of 17 in July 1951 to enlist in the Royal Canadian Navy. He commenced his naval career as an electronics technician. He took a secondment with the Royal Navy in the mid 1950s in their submarine service. He later was remustered as a radio operator. He proudly served his country for 27 years, retiring in August 1978 as Chief Petty Officer Second Class.
After a short employment period in the private sector, Dad commenced teaching the first year of a two-year electronics program at Dartmouth Vocational School in September 1979 where he worked for 20 years. He worked closely with his friend and colleague, Don Roth, to have the program advanced and be provincially recognized.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that any donations be made in Dad’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 1 pm at Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road. (Cole Harbour Funeral Home)
