Edward Robert (Ted) Connors

Died: 19 Sep 2024, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

 

CONNORS, Edward Robert - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edward “Ted” Robert Connors. Born during an air raid in England on December 3, 1944, he immigrated to Canada arriving at Pier 21 in July 1946 with his mother and two brothers. Gerald and Kathleen ‘Molly’ Connors and their family settled in Halifax. With his parents consent he joined the RCN at the age of 17 and arrived in Cornwallis on December 7, 1962. Ted was a Communicator. Serving predominantly on the East coast, he dedicated over 36 plus years to the Navy, retiring as a CPO2 on January 31, 1999. Following his naval career, he found fulfillment working at Kent Building Supplies until his recent passing, forming enduring friendships throughout his life.

 

Ted was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Kathleen ‘Molly’ Connors, and brothers Mick, Butch, and Paul. He is survived by his brother David Connors (Brenda) of Brighton, ON, sister Patricia Gee (Steve) of London, ON, Rita (Gillis) Connors. his wife of 42 years, and their children: Tamara Clarke (Rex) of Geilenkirchen, Germany, Michael Goulet (Deborah) of Surrey, BC, and Patrick Goulet (Lindsay) of Langford, BC. Ted also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kaitlyn Clarke (Tyler Grant) of Malahat, BC, Zachary Clarke (Jessica Dorge) of Ottawa, ON, Joshua, Benjamin, and Abbigail Goulet of Surrey, BC, and Owen and Payton Goulet of Langford, BC. Additionally, he is survived by nieces and nephews including two nieces and their families who are close to his heart, Niki (Connors) and Byron Rodenhizer with children Samantha, Austin, and Josephine of Stillwater Lake, NS, and Teri and Kevin Leblanc and Sadie of Lower Sackville, NS. A special mention to his cousin Jane and her family, Tom Davis and their children Michael and Thomas of St Albert, AB.

 

A dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch Calais #162 for over 25 years, Ted was granted a lifetime award in 2008. He served as Sports Officer and 2nd Vice on the branch’s executive board and was a longtime player on the Sackville Greys softball team. Ted enjoyed golf and cherished many dinners at his favorite restaurant, Mic Mac Beverage Room, surrounded by family and friends.

 

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Horne (Cardiology QEll), Dr. McMullin (Cobequid), Dr. Stewart (Camp Hill), and the palliative care team led by Dr. Dempster and Cara RN for their exceptional care and compassion. They also express gratitude to all friends and family who offered support during this difficult time.

 

Ted will be remembered for his love of Keith's beer, embodying the company's slogan, "those who like it, like it a lot."

Celebration of Life will be held 27 September 2024 at 130pm at Calais Legion Branch #162. 45 Sackville Cross Road.
