SOKOL, Andrew John (Andy) - passed away peacefully Tuesday night at the age of 99. Surrounded by family and welcomed into the loving arms of his son Mark (2005) and granddaughter Sarah (2023). Devoted husband of Eleanor Sokol. Dear father of Paul (Margaret) and Mark (Sally). Cherished grandfather of Daniel (Tracie), Kathleen Drover (Adam), Brittany and Sarah Sokol. Loving great-grandfather to Davin and Quinlyn Sokol and Margaret Drover. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Sokol and brothers Mike (Ethel) and John (Stella). Andrew was a WWII veteran, bravely serving in the Canadian Navy from 1944-1946. After his years of service he became a secondary school teacher until his retirement. Andy was a devoted Yankee's fan and enjoyed fishing at his beloved cottage in Arnstein, Ontario. Thank you to the staff at Southwood Lakes Extendicare and Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus for the compassionate care throughout Andrew's stay. As per Andrew's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Distress Centres of Greater Toronto, or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 415 Port Loring, Ontario.
