In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

Dad was a quiet unassuming man who devoted his life to his family and community. He enjoyed working with his hands and constructed many beautiful wooden pieces which his children and family members will cherish forever. He enjoyed watching sports most specifically the Maple Leaf’s and the Blue Jays. Dad loved music, he played guitar, and played in a couple of bands, one being the band “Can Hill Bluegrass” with three local friends; Dad attended lots of Bluegrass festivals and campgrounds around the Maritimes. Dad was an avid curler, a member of Canso Lions Club, a scout leader and coached minor hockey.
Dad joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1961 at age 20 and served 3 years until 1964. He then worked in the office at Acadia fisheries and the fish plant in Mulgrave. He also ran an Industrial Marine Products outpost where he sold and repaired much of the communities fishing equipment.
Edward is now with his best friend; his wife of 55 years predeceased Florence Garcia and is survived by his loving daughter Tammy (Darren) Rhynold, Middle Sackville; son Timmy Garcia (Kim Hendsbee), Truro; daughter Rachelle Garcia (Andre Cantin), Charlottetown; cherished grandsons Tristan, Tyson and Nathan; granddaughters Courtney & Chloe; brothers in-law Clair MacDonald; Brian Fougere, Mahone Bay; sisters in-law Geraldine Sanderson, Dominion; Barbara MacLean, Canso; Anne (George) Murphy, Canso; Kate (Joe) Jamieson, Guysborough; Theresa Casey, Canso.
