In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BEHMAN, Joseph Robert (Bob) - passed away peacefully, with family by his side, in Hogarth Riverview Manor on Saturday, August 31, 2024, just 2 days before his 86th birthday and 5 days before his 60th anniversary with the love of his life Judy.
Bob was born in Fort William on September 2, 1938 to Phillip and Rose Behman. He was a man of many talents and a true craftsman at heart. Over the years, he built several homes, each one a testament to his skill and dedication. In his early years, he spent time in the Navy then upon return to Fort William he carried on the family business - Behman's Grocery and Confectionary on Gore Street which he later converted to a 5 plex apartment building. He worked at CNR until his retirement in 1994. He married Judy DuBois in 1964 and together they raised their family and built a beautiful life together.
Bob enjoyed spending time in Grand Marais and winters in Arizona.
Bob is survived by his wife Judy; children Jolene Abick - grandchildren Brayden, Jordan; Dan (Kim) Behman - grandchildren Nick and Katie. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
He was predeceased by his parents as well as siblings Julie, Victoria, Paul, Harry, Peter, and Jean.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor 2 South for their dedication in caring for Bob. Special thanks to Patty.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life for the late Mr. Robert Behman will be held for family on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 2:00 until 4:00pm in the Westford Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
