BUCHANAN, Lawrence Kenneth (Larry to some … Kenny to others) - Age 89 years, of South Berwick, Kings Co., Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick, NS.
Born in Vancouver, B.C., he was the oldest son of the late Kenneth and Ruth Buchanan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Buchanan of South Berwick; prior to that his wife of 50 years Alma Buchanan and their family together: daughter, Janet and grandson, Nicholas; son, Peter and wife, Elly and grandsons, John, great grandson, Jack, grandson, Mike and wife, Kim and great grandsons, Keaton and Ben, grandson, Scott and wife, Danielle and great granddaughter, Haddy and great grandson, Walker; daughter, Kathleen and husband, Frank and granddaughters, Nadine and Stephanie; son, Paul and wife, Elaine and granddaughters, Brittney and husband, Walter, great grandchildren, Caynin, Shelton, Dawson and Preece, granddaughter, Jennifer and husband, Shawn, great grandchildren, Brodie, Paige Mahoney and grandsons, Andy, Luke and Tim; and by the youngest son, Daryl Lawrence.
Larry was very proud of his family and loved them equally.
Also survived by sisters, Margaret, Ruth and Fran; brothers, Randy and Mark; and 100’s of relatives in B.C. and throughout Western Canada / USA. Kenny, as he was known to them, was the oldest of the family and loved all his brothers and sisters. Besides his parents and first wife he was predeceased by brother, Bob; and sisters, Judy and Sandra.
Larry / Kenny grew up in Maple Ridge (Haney), B.C. He entered the military at age 17 and served for 25 years. After retirement he worked at a HVAC business for a few years, then as a Building Inspector for the City of Victoria, B.C. and finally as a Fire Inspector for the Town of Sidney, B.C.
Larry / Kenny and Alma moved to Nova Scotia from B.C in 1997. They lived together in Berwick until Alma’s passing in 2005.
Larry and Charlotte were married in 2007 and lived together in Berwick until he moved into the Grand View Manor in 2022 where he lived until his passing.
Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 17, in Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Andrew Conrad and Rev. Evan Colford officiating, with a reception to follow in the church annex. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, at a later date.
