WILSON, William John (Jack) - The family of William John "Jack" WILSON, regret to announce his passing Feb 28th, 2024.

William John Wilson was born in Delta, Ontario, Nov 15, 1935. He led a self-professed quiet life until he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in February of 1953. He served in the Canadian Forces Supplementary Radio System (CFSRS) his whole career, enjoying postings to Washington DC, and 3 tours to Alert, NWT. Leaving the Service in 1978, he spent time in BC's north as a dispatcher for the RCMP before moving and settling down in Fanny Bay on Vancouver Island. It was here that Jack thrived as a community volunteer. He was a local water board member, an active participant in the Ship's Point Improvement District (SPID) and a First Responder to the local Fire Department. But this wasn't enough, he then joined and was very active with the Baynes Sound Lions Club and the Bowser Legion (BR 211) where he became a Life Member of both service organizations. In recognition of his service, Jack was awarded the BC Fire Services Exemplary Service and Long Service Medals. Jack is predeceased by his wife Betty of 40 years. He is survived by his sons, Bruce, Keith and Greg and his two stepdaughters, Brenna and Darlene. His legacy continues through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in Fanny Bay in the fall. (The Comox Valley Record 28 Feb 2024)
