Calvin Ryburn (Cal) Diamond

Born: 23 Apr 1939

 

Died: 09 Apr 2024, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador

 

DIAMOND, Calvin Ryburn - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s, NL on April 9, 2024, Calvin Diamond aged 84 years.

 

Calvin is predeceased by his parents: Eric and Marjorie (Elson) Diamond; brother Reginald Diamond and sister Violet (Diamond) Mews; father and mother-in-law: Eldon and Stella (Gill) Butt; and brothers-in-law: Tom Hughes, Reginald Butt, and Gerald Mews.

 

Lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 61 years, Margaret (Butt) Diamond; children Gary (Sherry) Diamond and Karen (Kendall) Barbour. Calvin leaves behind his grandchildren who were his everything, Kyle (Kara) Osmond-Barbour, Krista (Robin) Hiscock, Maria Diamond, and Ben Diamond. He also leaves behind his precious great-granddaughters: Eleanor Osmond-Barbour and Autumn Hiscock.

 

Left with fond memories are his brothers Mac (Ethel) Diamond and Dolph (Jane) Diamond; brothers-in-law Roy (Rita) Butt, Claude (Shirley) Butt, William Butt, and sisters-in-law Shirley (Irvin) Bauch, Barbara Hughes, Rosemary (Hubert Sweetapple) Butt, and Eileen Butt.

 

The Diamond family would like to extend a special thank you to his brother Mac and wife Ethel Diamond for staying with the family at the hospital throughout his illness and for being with him at the end. Rev. Karen Thorne for her daily visits during his time in hospital, the nursing staff on 4 South A, and Dr. Ian MacPhearson and the Internal Medicine team who provided for his care. Thank you as well to everyone who sent messages or called.

 

The family will be accepting friends and relatives for visitation at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mount Pearl, on Monday, April 22 at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral to follow in Barrett’s Memorial Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment at Memorial Gardens, Galway immediately following service.
