In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CERMAK, Richard Anthony - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Anthony Cermak on October 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on August 25, 1949, in Red Deer Alberta. He later moved to British Columbia where he was based in the Royal Canadian Navy and met the love of his life. After he left the Navy he and Marg moved throughout BC where they eventually settled in Surrey to raise a family and follow their dreams.
He was pre-deceased and greeted in heaven by many loved ones and friends including his parents Anna, Tony and Jean, sister Helen and brother-in-law David. His energy and love will continue to live on in his wife of 52 years, Margret and daughter Kari (Rob) and Goddaughter Iffy. He believed that blood does not make someone family and welcomed many people to our little family including many who called him Dad and Papa.
For those who knew him, he was a man who would do anything for anyone, especially his family. He was often referred to as the energizer bunny as nothing would stop him. He fought hard throughout his life, through many different health battles to remain on Earth and did this right up until he took his last breath.
In addition to his love for family and friends, he loved hockey, travelling, driving, boating, fishing, puttering around and listening to music. He was a great storyteller who would share stories about his life which would usually have everyone laughing.
As a family, we want to thank everyone for all of their love, thoughts, prayers and support over the years. He was an amazing man and our family's hero. At his request, there will be no service but the family will celebrate the man he was at a future date. In honour of him please do a random act of kindness to brighten someone's day.
