In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HILL, James H. - 63 of 302 32nd St., West, a Saskatoon resident since 1914, died in hospital Friday. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from Saskatoon Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. L.S. Van Mossel. Survivors include Mr. Hill's wife, Mabel; daughter, Marlene; son, Kenneth, North Vancouver, B.C.; a sister, Mrs. Alice Phillips and one brother, Norman, both of Saskatoon. Born in England, Mr. Hill came with his parents to the Plunkett district in 1912 and to Saskatoon two years later. A Second World War veteran, he joined the RCNVR in 1939 and was commissioned to the Corvette WETASKIWIN in 1940. Credited with 18 months straight seatime he served throughout the Battle of the Atlantic and until the decommissioning of the WETASKIWIN in 1945. Following the war, Mr. Hill worked from the public school system maintenance department and had served at Pleasant Hill, Caswell and Henry Kelsey school.
