McFARLANE, Diane R. (née MOSSMAN) - Hammond Plains NS. We the family of Diane McFarlane sadly announce the passing of our Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt on 20 December 2023 at home.

Mom was born 23 Nov 1941 at home in Upper Kingsburg, NS the daughter of Robie and Mabel (Fraser) Mossman.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws Norman and Glad (Moggey) McFarlane and her husband Rod.

She leaves behind her daughter Michele (Nick) Manoukarakis East LaHave, NS, son Brett (Megumi Suzuki) Tokyo, Japan, grandsons Christopher Manoukarakis and Sean Manoukarakis, Halifax NS. Brothers Bill (Elly) Mossman, Duncan BC, Gerald (Maury) Mossman, Pentz NS and Lynn Mossman, Rose Bay NS. She also leaves several cousins, nephews and nieces.

Mom moved to the big city of Halifax to find her fame and fortune, she ended up working and joining the Canadian Forces as a WREN with HMCS Scotia. While in Halifax she met and married our father (Rockne McFarlane) in Victoria, BC.

Mom worked many years as a Bank Teller following our dad with his navy career. She made homes for us from the west coast to the east coast, Ontario and finally back home to Nova Scotia in preparation for retirement. Mom and Dad planned on travelling the globe however our father became ill and mom devoted her life in looking after him until his passing.

Mom decided to move to Bedford to become a “Professional Volunteer” with Feed NS and Cobiquid Medical Centre for many years. Her greatest joys in life were shopping, travelling and being with her grandsons. She also deeply treasured the smiles and company provided to her by both her Brunch Club and Sunday afternoon Country Jams. Through out her years mom has made many dear friends who she is no doubt sorrowful to leave behind.

A private family graveside burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Lower Kingsburg NS on 27 December 2023.
