Died: 06 Jan 2024, Halifax, Nova Scotia

FREDERICKS, Gerald - The family of Gerald Fredericks, 85, is saddened to announce his passing on January 6, 2024 after a very sudden decline in his health.

Gerry was born in Halifax and was the son of the late Morton and Harriett (Laing) Fredericks. Gerry was predeceased by his wonderful wife of 50 years, Louise (Mackey) Fredericks. He will be deeply missed by his daughter and son in law, Stephanie and Bill Neklia. His granddaughter, Paige, was the love and joy of his life. He is also survived by sister in law, Joan Mackey and brother in law, Bernie Mackey. Much love to Bernie for being there for Dad after Mom passed. He loved your phone calls.

Dad was a communications officer in the Royal Canadian Navy for over 12 years. He went on to work as a stowage officer for Halterm (PSA Halifax) Terminal. He retired after 30+ years in 2003.

A lifelong Habs fan Dad also enjoyed local sports, especially the Mooseheads. Mom and Dad loved traveling and their special places were Savage Harbour, PEI, Bermuda and Florida.

Special thanks to the staff of the QE2 ER for their efforts and compassion. We also want to thank Dad's neighbors who have been looking out for him since Mom's passing.

Cremation has taken place. Please join us for a Celebration of Life for Louise and Gerry, Sunday, March 3rd, 2-4 p.m. at the MacDonald Memorial Legion Branch 156 at 231 Greenhead Rd Lakeside, NS.

Mom wanted a party so hope to see you there! (The Halifax Chronicle-Herald 12 Jan 2024)
