DICKIE, Ruth Lorraine (née BROWN) -  It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Nana and friend on November 16, 2023. Lorraine was born in Swan River Manitoba on June 29, 1931, the only daughter of Alexander and Ruby Brown. She is predeceased by her parents, her 3 brothers and her husband of 41 years George. Also predeceased by her first husband, Norman (Roy) Hogan who she was married to from 1955 till 1980. She is survived by her children, Norm (Karin), Darryl (Tracy), Sandra (Greg), grandchildren Brennan (Heather), Jordan (Kari), Leland, Bailey (Mark), Donovan, Kirstyn, Sarah, Sharla, and great-grandchildren Jonah, Hazel, Audrey, Hunter, Bethany, Kinley, Charlotte, her nieces Sherry, Cindy and Copper, her step children, Mike, Dave, Anne, Shelley, Tom, and Kristine (Dean), 10 step grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren. Lorraine grew up in Minitonas, Manitoba, a small village 9 miles SE of Swan River. After high school she went to business college in Winnipeg then worked in an insurance company. She joined the WREN's when they were reinstated into the Canadian Navy, Lorraine was one of 25 girls from all over Canada that made up the first group. She enjoyed her time in the Navy but went back to office work when her commitment was over. Lorraine met George in 1978 and they married in 1981. In 1992 they moved to Duncan. Together Lorraine and George loved their busy retirement belonging to many groups and making lots of good friends. (The Victoria Times Colonist 25 Nov 2023)
