Godfrey was the son of Oliver and Alberta (née Griffin) Gale. He married Hazel R. Hiltz 14 Dec 1915 at Halifax. The 1921 census lists Hazel and a son, Lionel, living with Godfrey's parents at 61 Charles St., London, Ontario.
