BARCLAY, Chris Edward - On Monday, September 25, 2023, Chris Edward Barclay, 70, of Kentville, passed away in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after suffering a stroke.

 

Chris was born in Middleton. He worked in the Royal Canadian Navy for 23.5 years, spending most of his career as Military Police. Following retirement, he did several odd jobs, including fishing before becoming a Department of Fisheries and Oceans officer. He officially retired in 2011 and enjoyed being home with his family and friends sitting around the campfire with music and laughs, going to the river and doing some fishing and four wheeling.

 

Chris will be missed by his wife of 48 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Bayers); daughters, Krista Barclay and Niccole (Steven) Graham, all of Kentville; granddaughter, Kayla (Eric) Nickerson, Lockeport; grandson, Evan (Abby) Harris, Jordan Falls; step-grandson, Jayden Graham, Kentville; sisters, Elaine (Laroy) MacKenzie, Bridgewater; Wendy Barclay, Shelburne; and Cyndy (Brian) Barclay-Hill, Cole Harbour; three nephews, two nieces and niece, Summer Brown, Shelburne, who was very close with Chris. He thought the world of her and she held a special place in his heart. Also, a very special thank you to his extended family, Harvey Campbell, who was like a true brother to Chris, and Michele McDonald for their help and support through his journey and the continued support they have provided for his wife and family.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Acker (Nickerson) and Perley Barclay as well as brother, Glen Barclay.

 

In keeping with Chris’ wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside committal will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend special thanks to Med B of the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville and the member of the MAID program. Donations in Chris’ memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
