Died: 04 Jul 2023, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia

 

CREERY, Raymond Arbuthnot Bourchier - Born in London, UK on October 9, 1923, the oldest child of Wallace Creery (RCN), and Monica Creery (Hutchison) both of Vancouver, BC, died peacefully on July 4, 2023, in home in Mahone Bay, supported by his loving family. He is predeceased by his devoted wife, Pamela (Stevens); and survived by son, Ian; daughter, Pippa; grandchildren, James, Anisa, Shahine, Peter, Nasim, Katia and Benjamin; and great-grandkids, Reuben and Isaac. In his early years, Ray lived in England, Ireland and Canada. He enlisted in the Navy in 1940, fought through the Second World War, married Pam at age 26, and pursued his naval career until 1969, when he retired as a captain. He then spent 10 years with the Government of the NWT in executive positions, in Churchill, Fort Smith and Yellowknife before retiring a second time in 1980. He then settled for good near Mahone Bay on Nova Scotia’s South Shore to take up boat building. Arrangements are being made by the Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. There will be a funeral service On July 22nd, at 11 a.m. in St, James Anglican Church in Mahone Bay. Interment in Indian Point Cemetery will occur at a later date. No flowers please, but contributions to contributions to the Mahone Bay Food Bank or Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated. (The Saltwire Network 06 Jul 2023)
