In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
WIWCZOR, Richard Thomas Wayne (Rick) - of Williamswood, NS passed away at home on Friday, 14 July 2023. Rick was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and left the Prairies to join the Royal Canadian Navy in 1963. Serving a 25-year career with both the RCN and RCAF, which took him across Canada and to Germany, he retired to Williamswood in 1988. Rick then further served his country as a Technical Inspector for another 22 years, as a civilian with the Department of National Defense. Rick was an avid hunter and fisherman in his earlier life and had a lifelong passion for following most sports. He taught himself to read at a young age and forever was an avid reader who most enjoyed the fantasy and science fiction genre. As most of his relatives had settled in Sudbury Ontario, he returned there whenever possible to enjoy fishing and playing cards with his brothers and their families. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine Marie Wiwczor (Schnare); sons, Richard Jr. Shawn Wiwczor, Todd MC Wiwczor (Fiancé Tabither Kaluki); and daughter, Angela Marie Ann Wiwczor (Fiancé Mathew Jaeschke); grandsons, Michael Altair (partner Anika Nagy), Kevin Bolton (Husband Chris Bolton), and Alvin Kyalo. Predeceased by his father, Milan “Buff” Wiwczor; mother, Florence Dublin; uncle, Johnny Wiwczor; his aunt, Sister Marion; and brother, Milan Jr.; beloved brother of Michael, Jamie and Sean. He shared his vast knowledge with whomever he felt needed it and constantly helped those who required it. He enjoyed many years with his wife camping at Riverland Campground, in Nine Mile River. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place with a private ceremony to follow at a later date. Rick wished that in lieu of flowers that friends and family would make donations to their local SPCA.
