He was a son of Cranswick (Sr) Munroe and Lola Belle Hawes of Canso, Nova Scotia. He is buried in the Fourth Hill Cemetery, Canso, Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia.
His brother Douglas Haig Munore also served in the RCNR during the Second World War.
