In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
Henry's brother, PO Ernest George Edwards, also served in the Navy during the Second World War.
Both Ernie and his brother Henry served in HMCS Iroquois G89 during WW2. While serving in HMCS Iroquois, Ernie fell overboard. Word got to his brother and he headed to the upper decks where he was told his brother was being brought onboard. Henry arrived at the sickbay before Ernie, and soaked by sea spray, they thought he was the one who had gone over so they started plying him with rum. Of course he said nothing but was found out when Ernie was brought in.
