BOURGEAULT William J. -  It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William J. Bourgeault, on August 27, 2006 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 81 years. Bill was born on June 16, 1925 and grew up in Garson, MB, in the house on the hill. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy, joining in July of 1942 and was overseas during the Second World War, receiving his honourable discharge in December of 1945. Bill was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Tyndall Branch 128. After his discharge from the Navy Bill returned to Winnipeg where he met and married his loving wife of 53 years, Irene (Trapp). During the first 13 years of their marriage Bill was employed with Foundation Company of Canada and his work took him and Irene to live in every province between Quebec and British Columbia. With their moves they made many lasting friendships. They finally settled in Winnipeg where Bill worked for CP Rail until his retirement. Bill was an active members of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, joining with Irene in July of 1956 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. In 1964 they moved back to Winnipeg and transferred to St. James Rebekah Lodge, and in 1966 they became members of Fort Garry Canton No. 1. Over his 50 year of involvement with the Lodge, Bill took great pride as an advisor for Temple Star Junior Lodge, receiving the Decoration of Chivalry and Grand Decoration of Chivalry in the P.M. Branch, and in the many administrative offices he held. Bill and Irene attended Lodge Conventions across North America and he will be remembered with fondness by everyone he met in his travels. Never straying far from his roots, Bill spent countless hours in Garson, helping his nephew Gerry by planting and tending to an endless array of flowers and decorating the yard at Christmas. His creative flair will be sorely missed. Bill is survived by his wife Irene and his sister June (Mike) Kotchon. He will also be remembered with fondness by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and many longtime friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Florence Bourgeault, his sister Irene Hunter and a sister Helen in infancy. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Afflicted Children's Fund, in care of William Carson, 38-3rd Street NW, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 2B9. At Bill's request there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will follow at a later date. When I quit this mortal shore And mosey round this earth no more Don't weep, don't sigh, Don't grieve, don't sob: I may have struck a better job Don't go and buy a large bouquet For which you'll find it hard to pay. Don't stand around me looking blue; I may be better off than you! Arrangements in care of: Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson North of McIvor 338-0331 (The Winnipeg Free Press 29 Au 2006)
