Died: 16 Jul 2002, Ottawa, Ontario

 

McKINNON, William E. (Bill) - Peacefully, Tuesday, July 16, 2002, with his family by his side, Bill McKinnon, age 84, beloved husband of the late May Sauve. Loving father of Yvonne of Toronto, Lloyd (Darlene) and Gordon (Judy) of Ottawa. Cherished grandfather of Sherry (Christian), Mark (Heather), Jennifer (Shawn), Amanda, Bill and great-grandson Cameron. Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. During the Depression Bill worked for the T. Eaton Company in Winnipeg and later joined the Royal Canadian Navy achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Following the War he joined the Unemployment Insurance Commission in Winnipeg and was transferred to Ottawa in 1958 where he remained until retirement. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 2313 Carling Avenue (west of Carlingwood) Thursday after 10 a.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Bill's life will be held in the Chapel Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Chapter of the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated. The family will forever be indebted to the staff and caregivers of the Carleton Lodge's Goulbourn Village for the magnificent care and attention given to Bill over the last five years.
