TAYLOR, Albert George - 82, Watervale, Pictou Co., formerly of Windsor, Ont., passed away on Friday, January 23, 2004, in Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche. Albert "Al" was born in Toronto December 4, 1921. He was the son of the late Charles Albert Taylor and Mary Bella Rennie. He was predeceased by his Nova Scotia wife Helen, (MacDonald) Taylor; sisters, Catherine (Rice) Mercer and Helen (Taylor) Binns; son, Gary Taylor. Al is survived by his daughter, Colleen Taylor, Detroit; granddaughters, Trisha and Heather Taylor; daughter-in-law, Jeane Taylor, all of Windsor, Ont. In addition to his close friend and companion, Anne Cox, Truro, he is survived by a best friend, Joe Xerri, Detroit. Other survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. Al was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Stellarton. He actively served in the navy during the Second World War from 1940 to 1946. This included convoy work on the North Atlantic, Murmance Run in Russia, the Mediterranean and the British Isles. Post-war occupations included sales, transportation and cabinet making throughout Canada. Upon the death of his wife in 1994, he moved to Watervale, where he pursued his interests in nature and his lifetime passion for painting in oil on canvas. As a self-taught artist, he further shared his talents by teaching a seniors' painting class in Pictou County. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service is being held in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, on Wednesday, January 28, at 2 p.m., Rev. Mary MacDermid of Salt Springs United Church officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion will also be participating in the service and will be having a reception afterward at one of the Legions yet to be determined. Family flowers only please.
