In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SPEAR, David James, BScEng’65 - His family wishes to announce the death of David James Spear, C.D., P.Eng., of Fredericton, which occurred on Thursday November 26, 2015 at the age of 75.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen (Angie) and Derek (Franca); three grandchildren, Riley, Maria and Julia; one brother, Bill (lynn); five sisters, Joanne (Glenn) Maxwell, Barb Maxwell, Joyce Spear, Beth (Jim) Goldrich, and Deenie (Gil) Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Josephine Spear; his brother Bob; his sister Judy Banks.
Dave, known as Jim in his early years, grew up in Seeley’s Cove, New Brunswick, and was a graduate of the Eastern Charlotte Regional High School in St. George, and the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. He worked as a consulting electrical engineer and was involved in many of the major industrial and commercial projects in New Brunswick during his time. For the last twenty five years of his career he was the principal in his own consulting business. He was a Life Member of the Association Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, and a former member of its Board of Examiners. He had a long standing interest in military affairs, having served in the Royal Canadian Army Cadets, the Royal Canadian Navy, and as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve. Dave had a good, interesting life and was always appreciative of his family and friends, and of the great country in which he lived.
Although there will be no visitation, a memorial service will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, NB on Monday November 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Father John Harvey officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Fredericton Public Library or the Fredericton Sea Cadets would be greatly appreciated.
