In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CROWELL, Calvin Wilbert - Passed away at home on January 25, 2023, at the age of 81. Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late Lester and Ruth (Newell) Crowell. Calvin was a very loving and devoted husband and father. He was always there to help anyone. He had many stories to tell, either about hunting at his camp, his good old Navy days, or growing up in Dartmouth. He was Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class and served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Marine Engineer from 1958-1988. Later he worked at the machine shop at the Halifax Dockyard. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn (Buffett); sister, Marie George (Mervin); brother, Donald Crowell (Nicolle); daughters, Michelle White (Malcome), Maryanne Steffen (Billy); sons, Sean Crowell (Misty), Kevin Crowell and Kristopher Steffen; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his brother, Lloyd Crowell. Thank you to the paramedics, doctors and nurses for such acts of kindness. A gathering in remembrance of Calvin will be held at a later date for family and friends. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative.
