WAMPLER, John Mason (Jack) - Died March 8, 2011 with his family around him. He leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Kathleen, and his two children, Allan (and family) of Edmonton, and Barbara Ishler (and husband Paul) of Holden. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Bill. Jack was born in Edmonton October 23, 1921 to Charles and Gwynneth Wampler. He served in WWII in the RCNVR, spending most of his naval life aboard the H.M.C.S. Arrowhead. He married Kathleen Bendiksen on December 23, 1949 in Toronto, where he earned his degree in commercial art from the Ontario College of Art and Design. He worked as a commercial artist in Toronto until he was transferred to Montreal. Barbara and Allan were born in Montreal. In the fall of 1960, the Wampler family moved back to Edmonton, where Jack worked for Robarts Ltd. and Kay worked for the National Film Board of Canada. Later, Jack completed his Bachelor of Education degree at the U. of A. and taught at the Jasper Place Composite High School until retiring after 17 years. After retirement, he spent much of his time tutoring English as a Second Language, making several violins, and travelling in Canada, the U.S.A., Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Europe. A life well lived. He will be greatly missed. At Jack's request there will be no funeral.
