In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
VOLK, Delbert Delisle (Del) - passed away in the loving arms of his wife Evelyn at Victoria's Royal Jubilee Hospital on December 21, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with kidney failure.
Del was born in Unity, SK in 1939 and moved with his family to Calgary, AB at the age of three years.
He joined the Navy in 1958 and did his training at Cornwallis before transferring to Victoria BC. In 1961, shortly after he and Lyn were married, Del was sent to Portsmouth, England for submarine training. That was one of the best times of their lives.
Del left the service in 1966 and pursued a career in construction.
Del was predeceased by his father Paul Volk and mother Mary Anne Volk. He is survived by his wife Lyn; son Michael Volk of Victoria, BC and daughter Karen Volk of Calgary, AB; brother Anthony (Marie) Volk of Kelowna, BC & sisters Phyllis (Gerald) Bishoff of Lethbridge, AB, Violet Underwood of Sacramento, CA and Darlene (Bill) Ramunus of Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life to honour Del will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 2:00pm with interment to follow at the Royal Oak Burial Park next door. Friends are then invited to return to the Sequoia Centre for a reception. (The Victoria Times Colonist 07 Jan 2023)
