In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SMITH, James R. T. - (Retired MWO, Royal Canadian Navy) Our gentle sailor peacefully passed away the morning of October 28th, 2022 in his 92nd year.
Beloved husband and best friend of the late Shirley (nee New) Smith. Survived by his dear partner and caregiver, Johanna Rossiter. A wonderful dad to Thomas (Nancy), Laura (Dan) and Kerry (the late Jeffrey). Grandpa Jim to Gregory (Larissa) and David (Amy). Grump to Amy (Trevor) and a proud great-grandfather to Natalee and Emrie.
Jim was always a kind and giving man and was cherished by his family and friends. His 25 years of service in the Royal Canadian Navy blessed him with lifelong connections that he never forgot.
We will celebrate Jim’s wonderful life at Cresmount Funeral Home (322 Fennell Ave. East, Hamilton) on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 3pm. Refreshments will be served after the service.
As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will occur before the service at 2:30pm at Burkholder United Cemetery (465 Mohawk Rd. E, Hamilton).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund would be greatly appreciated.
