DUNBAR, Lloyd George - Suddenly at the Western Hospital Alberton on Sunday May 25th 2003 of Lloyd George Dunbar of Alberton age 83 years, Beloved Husband of Muriel nee Arthur Dunbar. Veteran of the Second World war. He was the son of the late Lloyd and Bertha nee Hardy Dunbar. Dear Step father of David (Joy) Barbour of Alberton, Betty (Bill) Pedersen of Mississauga, Arthur (Jean) Barbour of Brampton Ont. Dear Grandfather of Matthew, Maxine, Donald, Michelle and Stacey Dear Great Grandfather of Tyler, Beloved brother of Eric (Kay) of Vancouver, Fred (Sandy) of Huntley, Archie (Judy) of Montrose, Step Brother of Mae (Late Lorne) of lady Slipper Villa O'Leary, Vera (Late William) Robinson of West Devon, Jessie (Leslie) Hardy of Alberton, Emma (Edward) Spenchuck of Windsor Ont, Brother in Law of Alton Gordon of Alberton, John Fortier of Windsor Ont, Paul (Pat) Arthur of Northern Ont. and Myrna (Erwin) MacDougall of Worcester Mass. Predeceased by a Grandson, Shawn Pedersen, His step Mother Pearl Baglole, Brother Lorne Dunbar, Sisters Martha Gordon, Thirza (Late Glenn) Matthews and by Step Sisters Mona (Late David) Lockhart, Ena (Late Gordon) Carr, Bertha Fortier. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton. Funeral on Wednesday Afternoon with funeral service at 3;00 P.M. Pastor Ross Morrisson Officiating. Interment in the Alma Alberton Baptist Cemetery Greenmount. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. As an expression of Sympathy memorials to the Alma Alberton Baptist Cemetery Fund, or to the Alma Alberton Baptist Church would be gratefully appreciated. Comrades from St. Anthony's Branch of the Royal Canadian legion will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home at 6;45 P.M. Brethren from Zetland Lodge # 7 Alberton will hold a Masonic service at the funeral home at 9:00 P.M.

 


 

George, son of Lloyd M. and Bertha (Hardy) Dunbar was born in Montrose, PEI and joined the Navy serving in the North Atlantic and the English Channel on the HMCS ASSINIBOINE from December 9, 1941 to September 12, 1945 and received the France/Germany Star, the 1939-1945 Star with Clasp, the George V Medal, the Jubilee Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the Atlantic Star with Clasp.

 

George's brother Eric Dunbar also served in the RCNVR during the Second World War.
