In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BARNES, Wilson John - age 61, of Belnan, passed away on November 25, 2022, peacefully at home.
Born in Grand Falls, NL, he was a son of Georgina (Bessey) and the late Wilson Barnes.
John served a full career as a Marine Engineer with the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring in 1998. He loved fishing, hunting and vacations with his wife in Gull Lake, Newfoundland. He was a "Jack of all trades" ; a true "MacGyver". During his school years, he excelled in badminton competitions, winning many medals. He always had a smile, loved to laugh, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara (Garnhum); his mother Georgina; brothers, Fred (Cavell), Craig (Cathy), Rod (Rachael); brothers in law, David (Janet), John (Bonnie), Wayne (Deanna) Garnhum; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents-in law, Jackie and Shirley Garnhum.
Cremation has taken place. Interment in Newfoundland to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
