John Stewart Douglas

DOUGLAS, John Stewart - John Stewart Douglas passed away on November 14, 2022. He was born in Haliburton, Ontario on August 17, 1932 to George Alvin and Stella Irene (Dagg) Douglas.

 

He is survived by his wife Helen Mae (Manuel) Douglas, his children Gary Allen (Marina Hooper) Douglas, Winnipeg, Lynn Eleanor (Malcolm) Morris, Musquodoboit Harbour, Donna Marie Douglas, Dartmouth, step-daughters Glenys (Philip) Porter, Middle Sackville, Lori-Dawn Krueger, Middle Sackville, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Bertrum and Gordon, and by his sister Jean Eleanor.

 

John joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1954 and after 31 years he retired in 1985. After retiring from the Navy, John worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Nova Scotia Department of Justice, where he provided security for the Provincial Court on Spring Garden Road. He retired from the Provincial Government in 1997. John also worked part-time for a number of years at Sackville Small Engine Center.

 

John began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2012 and was baptized on November 8, 2014.

 

Cremation has already taken place and a memorial was held on November 19, 2022.

 

Donations may be made in John's name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
