AYER, Stephen Edward - 65 of Middle Sackville, passed away November, 4, 2022 in the VG Site, QEII Hospital with his family by his side. He was a son of Millard (Mel) Ayer, and Carole McKay (Fletcher). Steve's journey through life included many vocations, hobbies, and accomplishments. He was a Navy vet, sonar tech; five years service. He graduated from the electrical technician program at Comosen College in Victoria B.C. After graduation he became the Western service manager for Brother International. He owned and operated Steve's Service and Supply and was the service manager for Printer Solutions. Before moving to Nova Scotia, he was a Xerox Service Tech for Laser Networks. Steve completed his tech career with Arjo Huntleigh as a hospital patient aid equipment service technician. He was a black belt at Temple Kung Fu, in Kempo (Movement is Life). He was a member of Temple Kung Fu Pai Hu Shih and had a black belt in Balintawak stick fighting at Dark Star MA. He was the standing Grand Poohbah of the Buffalo Club. An avid outdoors man, Steve enjoyed hockey, football, atv'ing, camping, fishing, mountain biking, boating, skiing (alpine and water) and logging in his woods. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast (he loved his wind therapy). A self-taught guitar player, mechanic, computer tech, floor installer, roof builder, landscaper, tree faller, cement finisher, drywaller, painter, builder of catios, co creator of WeeWood homes, (the ultimate jack of all trades, he Steveorize'd everything!) Steve could tackle any task, he would do anything for anyone at any time. A teacher at heart, he enjoyed sharing his learnings with all. He was a lover of animals and cherished all of his fur babies dearly. Steve is survived by life partner, Janice Crawford; his fur-babies, Bella, Garfield and Vinney Ayerford; his mother, Carole McKay (Fletcher); his sisters, Elizabeth (Jan), Janet (Bryon), Linda (Stephen), Laura (Buck): and brother, Donald (Evelyne); his many nieces and nephews, Janna, Jamie, Josh, Coady, Jonathan, Eric, Maddi, Brad, Ben, Luke, Melissa, Kaira, Jaspen and Marlon, many great-nieces and nephew; his in-laws, Todd Crawford and Debbie Madden. He was predeceased by his father, Millard (Mel) Ayer; stepmother, Rhoda Ayer (Mason); stepfather, Tom McKay; father-in-law, Norman (Biz) Crawford, and mother-in-law, Shirley Fitzgerald (Walker). A celebration of life will be held January 31, 2023, where we will carry Steve over the finish line on his 'new' birthday. Location to be announced at a later date.
