In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

Charles Henry (Hank) Funk

Able Seaman Engineer, 52680-E, RCN

Born: 25 Mar 1943          Died: 21 Jul 2022

FUNK, Charles Henry (Hank) - was born in Fort McMurray on March 25, 1943 where he started school. His family moved around Alberta and settled in Wetaskiwin. He joined the Navy at 17 and spent three years on the west coast. After a couple years, he decided to make plumbing his career, then expanded to pipefitting and steam fitting.

In 1974, he decided Fort McMurray was a good place to be so off we went. We spent 33 years there while Hank worked in the Oil and Gas Field. We retired in 2007 and moved to Sherwood Park. After a year or so he decided retirement wasn't for him and went to work with Enbridge as an Inspector. In 2017, he decided he was finally ready to retire.

He had a passion for model building, Lego, science fiction, space study and history.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 55 years Phyliss, one daughter Julie, and son Mathew and one grandson Max whom he adored. He also leaves brothers Ralph and Brian, sisters Ethel, Fay (Lloyd) and Betty. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Funk, brothers Bill, Roy, Ed and Joe, and one sister Edna.

We will all miss him!
